Lovers Key is a natural state-park beach. The scoring reflects both the scenic shoreline and the real walking distance from the main parking area to the sand.
Where it is
Main scoring anchor: Lovers Key State Park, 8700 Estero Blvd, Bonita Springs, FL 33931. Mid-Beach access is about 1,000 feet from Parking Lot #1. The South Beach Bridge at Lovers Key State Park is about a half-mile from Parking Lot #1. The discontinued tram means that walking distance is part of the current visitor experience.
Beach-day essentials
Parking and access
Park admission is $8 per vehicle for two to eight occupants, and parking is included with admission. The park says parking normally has enough capacity but can fill on busy weekends and holidays. Current boat-ramp construction is also limiting parking.
Food near Lovers Key
As of May 1, 2026, Florida State Parks says there is no food or beverage service at Lovers Key. The food-nearby score is therefore 0 rather than carrying forward older concession information.
Activities and watersports
Lovers Key has one of the stronger verified activity mixes among the natural beaches: swimming, shelling, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, boating access, biking and wildlife viewing. Current beach-chair and umbrella rentals are also available.
Before you go
There is currently no food or beverage service, the tram has been discontinued, and boat-ramp work is limiting parking. Those current conditions are reflected in the guide rather than using older pre-project assumptions.
D’s Beach Ratings
Overall Beach Rating: 7/10
Exceptional natural scenery and a broad range of verified outdoor activities are the strengths. No current food service, long walks from parking to the beach and limited after-beach options keep the overall score at 7/10.
The public score is derived from the current D’s standardized 100-point rubric. Only verified evidence is counted; incomplete evidence is not filled in by assumption.
