Where it is
Main scoring anchor: Founders Park, 87000 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036. Founders Park provides a stable public anchor for beach access, fees, facilities and family-use scoring.
Beach-day essentials
Parking and access
The village publishes park-entry fees rather than a separate public parking rate. Current non-resident entry is $10 for adults and $7 for youth/seniors, rising on summer weekends and listed holidays to $15 and $10 respectively. Residents qualify for separate resident access rules.
Food near Islamorada
No food option is counted at the beach anchor because the official Founders Park page does not currently verify an active beach concession or stable walkable restaurant set within the scoring boundary.
Activities and watersports
Verified uses include shallow-water swimming, volleyball, playground and splash-pad recreation, picnicking and the adjacent aquatic-center experience. Fishing is specifically prohibited under Founders Park rules, so it is not counted.
Before you go
Founders Park charges non-resident admission and has strict no-alcohol beach rules. Visitors should check the official park page for temporary facility notices before visiting.
D’s Beach Ratings
Overall Beach Rating: 5.5/10
Islamorada’s Founders Park is exceptionally strong for family facilities but is a small, shallow-water public beach rather than a broad oceanfront destination. Limited verified food, walkability and nightlife at the anchor keep the standardized overall score modest.
The public score is derived from the current D’s standardized 100-point rubric. Only verified evidence is counted; incomplete evidence is not filled in by assumption.
